history
Our journey starts way back in 1929
Origins
Our flagship restaurant location in Detroit on Fort and Green began as one of the original slider diners back in 1929. During the early 1930s the first family sold the location to Mr. Mott Sr. and the Mott family operated the famous slider diner for many decades providing delicious fresh beef burgers to the vibrant community. Two central themes of that incredible community that have influenced the brand are Motown and Motorcity. During the mid 1990s the Mott family decided to sell and Bob and Mary were blessed to be able to continue the incredible history of providing the food and quality that everyone loves with the service you remember.
Story
Bob and Mary updated the brand to Motz’s to keep the same flavor and recognition while also respecting the request of the Mott family to modify the name since a new family was leading the burger brand. Ever since, we have continued to offer our famous fresh beef sliders, golden shoestring french fries, thick cut battered onion rings, and farm fresh dairy milkshakes. Their two sons Tony and Mike have also been apart of the mission of providing the best fresh beef sliders around! We have recently expanded with plans to open more locations. We want everyone to be able to experience delicious Motz’s burgers, fries, and shakes.
